With gout it is necessary to eliminate or cut back on the meat and heavy protein foods and to eliminate or decrease sugar, sugar substitutes, and MSG (monosodium glutamate or "Ajinomoto"). Your diet should be mostly fruits, vegetables and nuts (peanuts are not nuts, they are beans). Gout sufferers should eliminate or decrease beans and meat because meat and beans contain the food components that cause gout. If you do consume meat it is good to consume fish instead.
